About Us
Jo
Parfitt Jo Parfitt lived abroad from 1987-97 and then again, since 2004, accompanying first husband and then children too, from England to Dubai, on to Muscat and to Stavanger. During this time she retained her sanity and professional identity by creating a concurrent yet flexible portfolio of portable careers that ranged from journalism, though computer teaching to selling date chutney. She believes that life abroad is full of opportunities to reinvent ourselves and to find and follow our passions. After seven years back in the UK, in 2004, they were on the move again, this time to The Hague and with teenagers in tow. She works largely as a freelance journalist, author, publisher, presenter, trainer and consultant. Owing to the years spent abroad she specialises in expatriate and career issue in addition to getting published and paid for it. She has been editor of Woman Abroad magazine and has worked extensively on the Weekly Telegraphs' Expat Living page. Her work can be seen in a range of expatriate publications. She has written more than 20 books, all of those since 1998 concerned with living, writing and working abroad. Her speaking engagements take her to international networking and career conferences as well as to run workshops for corporations and non-profit associations. You can find out more at her other sites: www.expatrollercoaster.com and www.thebookcooks.com. Motivated
by a desire to be a catalyst for change in others, her enthusiasm for
her subject has led her to inspire and inform today's mobile community.
